Considering the Abortion Pill?

Start With a Medical Consultation

If you’re looking into the abortion pill, you may be sorting through a lot of information online. An in-person medical consultation can help you better understand your pregnancy and any health factors that may be important for you. Speaking with licensed medical professionals gives you the opportunity to ask questions and receive personalized medical information.

At Bella Women’s Center, we offer private, in-person consultations that include the medical testing typically recommended before taking the abortion pill. We do not provide or prescribe the abortion pill. Our role is simply to help you understand important health details — so you can move forward with clarity.

Only you can decide what’s right for you. We’re here to make sure you have accurate, evidence-based medical information.

Pre-Testing Before the Abortion Pill

Before ordering or taking the abortion pill, medical professionals typically recommend taking a few important steps. These steps help confirm what’s happening with your pregnancy and identify anything that could affect your safety or comfort.

1

Verify Your Pregnancy

Even if you’ve already taken a home pregnancy test, early results can sometimes be unclear. At Bella, you can receive a medical-grade pregnancy test at no cost. This helps you know exactly where things stand before you move forward.

2

Receive an Ultrasound to Understand Your Pregnancy

Before using the abortion pill, medical guidelines recommend knowing:

  • How far along you are (also known as the gestational age)
  • Where the pregnancy is located (ruling out an ectopic pregnancy)
  • Whether the pregnancy will continue or end through a natural miscarriage

These details matter for your health and can only be confirmed through an ultrasound exam. Our licensed medical staff provides limited ultrasounds to help give you this information in person, something at-home or online services can’t provide.

Many women didn’t realize how important this was until they experienced unexpected pain or complications after a medication abortion. Getting an ultrasound first is a simple way to protect your health and understand what’s happening inside your body.

3

Get Limited STD/STI Testing

Having an untreated STD/STI  during the abortion process can increase your risk of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and other complications. Bella provides free, confidential, limited STD/STI testing for patients with a positive pregnancy test. Our team will only recommend testing that applies to your situation.

Why an In-Person Medical Visit Matters

Meeting with a licensed medical professional in person gives you the space to:

Ask questions you may not feel comfortable typing into a search bar

Talk through concerns privately and without judgment

Understand what’s specific to your pregnancy—not a general overview

Make decisions with accurate medical details, not guesses

Prioritize your health and safety before doing anything at home

You deserve support that’s personal and grounded in real medical insight.
